GPL: Ashgold win, maintain lead


League leaders Ashanti Gold continued their lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League when they defeated Dreams FC 1-0 at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium this afternoon.

They now have 21 points from 11 matches.

An unfortunate own goal from central defender Abdulai Ibrahim was what all Ashgold needed to ran away with a victory.

Second place Asante Kotoko lost to Aduana Stars 1-0 in injury time at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa Ahenkro. Aduana are now joint second with 20 points, 

It was a match that was characterized with ‘juju’ as the two teams played with 10 men apiece in the greater part of the first half.

Inform Hearts of Oak also drew with Karela United at Tarkwa.

But Medeama SC recovered from their shocked defeat to Elmina Sharks over the weekend to register a 2-1 victory over Inter Allies in Accra.

Kofi Babil  and Prince Opoku Agyemang got the two goals whilst the league’s leading marksman Vctorien Adebayor got the consolation goal.
