COVID-19: Sunyani Nana Bosoma market closedown

Sunyani Municipal Assembly has putting in place a lot of measures to ensure effective implementation of the World Health Organization-WHO and Local Health Authority Protocols including directives from the president, to protect lives of it’s citizens since the outbreak of the Novel Corona virus.


The Information Services Department (ISD) of the Assembly has intensified education on the need to practice personal hygiene including among others regular washing of hands under running water, use of hand sanitisers.


It has also ensured that, commercial drivers observe the social distancing protocol by reducing passenger intake.


Latest amongst it’s measures is the creation of satellite markets for the various groups in the market.

As a result, Nana Bosoma market which usually host traders from within and outside the Bono region every Wednesday, is to be lockdown effective Wednesday, April 22, 2020.


In a press release spotted by Dinpa news, signed on behalf of the MCE by Mr . Reuben Oliver Avayevu, the Municipal Information Officer, said Sunyani Municipal Assembly in collaborated with the Traditional Authorities and agreed on the above decision, they therefore moving in to ensure its full adherence.


The statement said surveillance will be strengthened untill further notice.

Management of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Sunyani Traditional Council wishes to announce to the general public that, the Nana Bosoma Market (Wednesday Market) has been closed down effective today, 21st April, 2020 until further notice.


Per this directive, all market activities will be carried out at the following designated areas:

Coronation Park: vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, garden eggs, pepper, ginger, etc and foodstuffs such as cassava, yam, cocoyam, plantain, etc
Twene Amanfo Secondary Technical School: Shoes, Sandals and Bags.

Jubilee Park: Secondhand Clothing
Daily Market (M’asom M’asom): Already made clothing, corn dough, cassava dough, groundnut paste, etc.

Management therefore pleads with the general public to adhere to the above directives while observing social (physical) distancing, regularly washing of hands with soap under running water, using of hand sanitizers frequently and observing other health protocol.
